System oriented technology and process engineering for brewing and beverage production

The Unit is focused on establishing process-markers and their formal-kinetic description, aiming for a better description of the individual processing steps in a brewery and thus being able to optimize those. Another focus is on the validation of raw materials (e.g. hops) concerning quality and processability in cultivation programs. A key aspect in this is the optimization of existing and the development of new systems for beer filtration. All in all the group is working on analytical descriptions and optimization of enzymatic processes during the wort production in a brewery.
